Remittance Architecture explores the impact of migration on the transformation of Mexican towns. It focuses on the case of Vista Hermosa, a sugar cane town in southern Jalisco with a high rate of migration, whose built space has been radically transformed over the last seventy years. Its architecture mutated to become a reflection of the inhabitants and their aspirations for a better life. Through the analysis of the origin and symbolism of the transformations that took place there, this publication focuses on the historical, social, cultural and aesthetic value of a new global typology: the architecture of remittances.
