In the hectic neighborhood of northeast Kreuzberg, Bonjour Tristesse stands as a blurred entity, a physical manifestation of the complexity of the city and its inhabitants.

 

It is hard to say where the building ends and where it begins. Its sun-glaring skin and its dark guts are filled with traces of appropriation; the traces of private life collide with the traces of urban chaos. Bicycles, flowerpots, graffiti tags, strollers, shoes, welcome signs, paste-ups; the wilderness of the city and the everyday lives of the inhabitants of Bonjour Tristesse clash, dance, fight, but most importantly: co-exist.
